African Hotels

Hotels

Hotels are not part of a safari per se. However, it is quite common to stay in a hotel for a night or two in the city where you first arrive in Africa. This will enable you to relax for a day or so and get over your jet lag before you start your safari. In addition, many people like to go to a sea side hotel, again to relax a little, after completing their safari.

Hotels in Africa are similar to hotels in other parts of the world as it relates to luxury and accommodations. It is different from the luxury that you experience at safari lodges and camps. Hotels are included here because they are an important part of planning a safari.

African Bush Camps

Bush Camps

Bush camps are semi-permanent camps set up in game rich areas. In Southern Africa, such as Botswana and Zambia, they are in operation only during dry months and taken down for the duration of the rainy and hot season, which is from November to March. In Eastern Africa, specifically in Tanzania, they are open year-round but are relocated/moved to follow the famous Wildebeest Migration as the wildebeest move in search of new grass and water on their year round journey.
